Hi, I'm Amelia! I'm a full time student and beauty blogger living and working in the Southeast United States. I'm originally from England and hoping to move back to the UK soon. I'm an absolute beauty junkie (not helped by the fact that I work at a Cosmetics Company Store) and Harry Potter fanatic. If you want to get to know me better, you can read this post.

Must Have MAC Eyeshadows

I have A LOT of eyeshadows, but my MAC babies are some of my favourites, despite how beat up the poor things look.

Nylon is described as a pale gold with icy shimmer. This is the most perfect highlight colour you will ever find. It makes your inner corners look amazing and your eyes wider and more awake. It's the only MAC shadow I've hit pan on because I literally use it every single day. I'd definitely say it's more white on the skin than gold, so it's flattering for all skin tones. If you were only to buy one shadow from MAC, I would tell you to buy this one.

Patina is described as a taupe brown with golden pearl. This one is beautiful all over the lid on its own or as a part of a look. It's slightly warm but not so much that it looks orangey like one of my favourites Time & Space does. Another perfect everyday shade.

Mulch is a red-brown with bronze pearl. It's almost a chocolatey brown but is definitely quite warm. It brings out the green in my eyes to a craaaazy level and I absolutely love it. It's beautiful through the crease or all over the lid in a smokey eye. Love.

The Spring Blush Edit

I'm not generally a blush person, I stick to my bronzy glow. But in the spring I think it's nice to add a bit of flush to my already red cheeks (woe is me). Anywho, these are my all-time blush favourites.

Not sure how you could not know about the Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot after all the buzz over the holidays, but I absolutely adore it. It was limited edition, but if I could recommend one for you to buy, it'd be Rockateur because it's the perfect in-between colour, not too pink but not too taupe. I also adore Coralista, but it IS different in the palette, so I still get use out of this one. By the way, if you've never smelled a Benefit blush get your butt to Ulta right now and sniff, HEAVEN.

Another corally favourite is elf's Candid Coral which is supposed to be a dupe for NARS Orgasm. I think it's a tiiiiiiny bit more coral, but for $3 who can complain? I recently found Gotta Glow in Marshall's and it is the perfect highlighter, honestly you need it. On the slightly crazy side is Sleek's Life's A Peach which looks neon in the pan but is a beautiful, natural looking orange on the skin. I was surprised by how amazing this made my skin look.

Then there's the can't-go-wrong shades like MAC's Well Dressed and Tarte's Dollface, light pinks with a slight sheen that make you look like a million dollars. Well Dressed is my go-to blush on a regular basis.

What blushes are your favourites?

Drugstore Haul

I went into Walgreens today to pick up some shampoo (Head and Shoulders Crisp Apple because my poor scalp hates season changing time) and I walked out with a hole in my wallet.

If you read my most recent post you'll know my poor nails have suffered and are weak and peely. Boooo. So I picked up essie's Millionails Treatment. It's meant to help with peeling so hopefully my nails will be strong again soon. For some reason the Sally Hansen Triple Shine Polishes were $1.29 so I grabbed the ones I liked the look of. First is Shark Bait, a light beigey nude which doesn't have too warm of an undertone, so good for my skin. Deep End is a dark purple, surprisingly I only have black-purple nail polishes and lilacs, being my favourite colour I'm happy to have a royal purple. Slick Black is absolutely GORGEOUS, it's a black base with silver and multicolour shimmer. It reminds me of butterLondon's Chimney Sweep, but less metallic more shimmery. Last I got Watts New, which is kind of like a deep wine colour that leans slightly more purple.

The Rimmel Scandal Eyes Pencil in Taupe was also on super sale so I snatched it up to recreate some taupe smokey eyes a la Linda Hallberg. On a whim I snatched up Maybelline's somewhat new Fit Me Matte + Poreless because I've heard a lot about it, I love the original, and 110 Porcelain looked extra light for a drugstore foundation. I'm a bit bummed because it's on sale at Ulta, but nevertheless I am excited to try this out. It supposedly contains micro-powders that blur pores so hopefully it will look flawless!

Have you picked up anything new recently?

Laut

So I got sick of my glitchin' phone recently and decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to an iPhone 6. My wallet is sad but I am very very very happy. I knew I wanted to get a super protective case, but I still wanted it to be stylish. I scoured etsy and found so many pretty cases but they're all just plastic shells that offer pretty much zero protection. I stumbled across Laut, which I believe is a German company originally, randomly and fell in love with their cases. They are made of TPU, which means the case is flexible but still hard. It's sleek, but it you drop it the case will absorb the impact. AND they have this gorgeous black marble which I am in looooove with. Best of all, they only cost $19 (!!!!). I was so excited to get mine in the mail. They also come with two screen protectors, which for the price is a freakin amazing deal. I've got my eye on the metallic gold one next.

What do you think? Isn't the black marble gorgeous?!

New Favourite Nail Polish

I know I just did a nail post, but I had those gels on for over a week and I was getting bored so I peeled them off. I used to just peel them off with no problem, this time however, I discovered my nails were ruined and peely underneath, I'm so sad. I've been doing a lot of treatments so hopefully they'll get better soon because I usually have very healthy nails! Anyway, I decided to paint them nude again so they didn't look quite so terrible and discovered that Sally Hansen's Grey-t Escape is GORGEOUS. It's kind of a dusty grey-nude and I love it. Right up my ally.

Pinspiration 03

I'm back with another Pinspiration post today! It's been a long weekend of 8-hour shifts and homework (aka lots of pinterest breaks) so here's what I've been loving this week

01 Black boots Okay, I know it's spring, but I have quite an obsession with ankle boots and these are beautiful. Also, they're Free People AGAIN, I think I'm subconsciously drawn to their shoes because every time I click the link it takes me to Free People. Then I get really sad because they are sooooo expensive.

02 Opal rings I'm also still all up into my dainty rings, but this opal one is sooooo gorgeous. It reminds be of Anna's tiny turquoise Shop Anome one.

03 Bright eyes This time of year I'm making an effort to step away from my beloved smoky bedroom eyes and go for a more fresh-faced wide-awake look. Definitely a big difference, but I switch it up with a bold lip.

04 Too hot Living in the south this time of year makes me seriously wish I lived somewhere that is perpetually fall. I'm missing my sweaters and leather jackets already, booooo.

05 A bit of a change My hair has gotten quite long since I last cut it. Last year it was down to my belly button and I cut it above my shoulders. It's since grown to that weird middle-long length where it's kind of annoying to deal with so I'm thinking about a fresh chop. I'm really into this messy, Alexa Chung-esque messy shoulder length look.

What are you loving on pinterest right now?

Spring is for Nude Nails

If you've been with me for a while here on the blogosphere, you'll know I'm a dark nails kind of girl. In fact, the only time I ever really wear light polish is for my beloved Barry M Huckleberry. But, with spring upon us I've been really into nude nails. I DID (emphasis on did) have quite long, strong nails that looked absolutely gorgeous with nudes. Then my friend asked if I wanted to go get gel nails with her. Don't get me wrong, I love gel polish but I'm hesitant to spend money on getting my nails done because I can do it myself. Anyway, I decided to treat myself and selected the gorgeous Do You Take Lei Away? by OPI. I happily sat there as she massaged my hands... but then she brought out the nail clippers. I had said that I wanted to keep my nails long as I was proud of them and liked how they looked. She cut through the first one and I literally gasped, how dramatic of me. Back to short nails for now I suppose. The colour is really beautiful though so I got over it quickly and I know they'll grow back soon. This is sort of one of those perfect for my skin nudes that looks like I'm not really wearing polish but my nails look flawless. Love.

What do you have on your nails today?

Forever Products

I have products in my collection that are super unnecessary but I also have products that I probably couldn't live without (lol first world prob). But really, these are products that I use every single day and will repurchase over and over again.

Benefit BadGal Lash is a product I have used for years and years. I buy the mini version as I find I prefer the brush. You guys are gonna think I'm a weirdo but I let this sucker dry out and use it to sort of prime my lashes for mascara. For whatever reason it gives me a bit of volume but it REALLY lets my other mascaras grab on to my lashes.

MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot I used to think I would never use anything but the UDPP, but I found this at a CCO maybe two years ago and I've never looked back. I do still love the Urban Decay, but I really like that Soft Ochre creates a blank canvas on my lids. It's also good for those days where I'm wearing makeup but not eyeshadow (rare).

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder I have been using this baby for as long as I can remember. I had a brief flirtation with the MAC MSF Natural, but for the price nothing can beat this. I'm not really a powder person, but I use it to set my T-zone.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black I got a mini of the Black Nirvana for Christmas and I absolutely fell in love. It has really become my signature scent. I wore something different the other day for some reason, and my friend asked me why I smelt different. I also get an unreal amount of compliments on this slightly unusual smell. I think I'll stick with it.

Anastasia DipBrow in Chocolate we've all seen this one on my blog far too many times but I just love it SO much. I'm not sure how long it'll take me to use up because I've had it forever and hardly made a dent. So, I'm sure I won't actually be repurchasing any time soon but if I had to, I definitely would. I really don't know how my brows would survive without it.

MAC Nylon Eyeshadow I use this sucker every single day in my inner corner, clearly. I've had it for several years and it's still going strong. If MAC ever discontinues this I will be stocking up. It's just the perfect neutral toned inner corner highlight and I love it.

What are your must-have can't-live-without products? Let me know!

More Colourpop

My friend ordered some ColourPop goodies a few weeks ago and when she asked if I wanted to order something so we didn't have to pay shipping, I said heck yes. I restrained myself to only buying three things, but I'm already itching to pick up things from the new collections. Can you tell I stalk their website? Everything is $5, or $8 for blushes, and I just can't flippin' resist.

I decided on two Lippie Stix and a Super Shock Shadow. The shadow I chose is called Gameface and it is BEAUTIFUL. I have never gotten so many compliments on an eyeshadow look before this beauty.  It's a warm, coppery bronze in the 'Ultra Metallic' finish and I love it. I wore it today on the inner half of my lid in a bronzy smokey eye and it made my eyes look amazingly green. I talked in detail about their formula in my original post, but I just wanna poke it.

Lumière (which is ColourPop's collar with KathleenLights) is perfect, like oh my goodness. Anybody in the whole world could rock this lip. And that is coming from someone whole generally solely wears nothing or a dark red lip. It's a matte "dusty" mauve colour and it makes my lips look so fabulous. Basically just trust me and buy it, you won't be disappointed. I also decided on Fetch because Shannon said it was bright without being too bright and complimented her green eyes. Like I said, I pretty much exclusively wear dark red so this bright pink was a big jump. I haven't worn it out yet but the satiny finish and warm tone really is beautiful. As I said in my last post, the formula on these is AMAZING and I want to eat them.

I'm already making a wish list of products I want to order next. What are your favourites?

March Favourites

March has been a month of well-loved and well-used products. I found a new favorite foundation combo and stepped a teeny bit out of the matte eyeshadow black hole.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and MUFE Mat Velvet + I don't know why I never thought to mix these foundations because Maybelline's is a bit too dewy and not lasting enough whereas the MUFE is too matte for my liking currently. I have loved them separately but as it gets hotter where I live, I find that this combo stays put all day. I also mix with my Manic Panic white foundation as this is far too dark (pale people probs).

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Skimpy and Creature Okay I'm either in a nude (like no colour) lip mood or a dark lip mood so these have been my jam this month. I did just get another order with some exciting(ish) colors so look out for that Monday. I have an extensive post talking about the formula of these here, but I'm still head over heels.

Too Faced Hangover Rx I picked this up fairly recently but my skin has never been better and I am in love. Again, post here going into detail. If you can afford to shell out $30 on a primer (I had to forgo coffee for two weeks eek) pick it up, you'll thank yourself.

Colourpop Super Shock Cheeks in Aphrodisiac This shade has been SO perfect for my poor pale skin. I apply it onto my cheeks after I contour and the slight pink tone brings some life back into my face. Also I just want to poke it all day.

Colourpop Super Shock Eyes in Mittens Hello perfect smoky crease colour. Again, formula is the coolest thing you will ever touch in your entire existence. The colour is slightly red-toned which brings out the green in my eyes and holy COW is it pigmented. It almost stained my eyelids. I'm okay with that.

NYX Wonder Pencil I've been somewhat sloppy with my poor brows early in the morning but a quick swipe and blend of this underneath the little suckers makes them look flawless again. I also like to use it above my cupids bow and it works wonders to sharpen up a dark lip.

Individual Lashes I also just did this post, but adding a few lashes to the corner of your eyes makes a BIG difference and I have been loving that look this month.

Revlon Lash Potion Mascara When I first got this I absolutely hated it because it was so liquify and heavy. It's dried out a bit and reached that perfect texture that makes my lashes look like falsies. Buy it and let it sit for a while, maybe leave the cap unscrewed a bit. Maybe not hygienic but definitely gives your results, hehe.

Shea Moisture Montana Eye Shadow This beauty has been living on my lids. It can be either a light wash of colour or an intense metallic shine and I absolutely love pairing it with matte smokey browns through the crease.

Those are my favorites of the month! What have you been loving?
