Hi, I'm Amelia! I'm a full time student and beauty blogger living and working in the Southeast United States. I'm originally from England and hoping to move back to the UK soon. I'm an absolute beauty junkie (not helped by the fact that I work at a Cosmetics Company Store) and Harry Potter fanatic. If you want to get to know me better, you can read this post.

Phyto Paris

Hi my loves! Long time no post, I apologize but it has been craziness over here! Our house is finally (and sadly) under contract, so that means some downtime this week and then the moving starts. So I'm sorry to say that this spotty posting may be common for a while, but I'll be back to annoy you soon enough!

If you know me, you know I'm super duper lazy with my hair. In fact I just cut it off in order to avoid doing anything to it. I generally buy cheap shampoos and conditioners are target and maybe use Organix every once in a while. In summary, I suck. but when the gorgeous Lilian reached out and asked if I'd like to try some of the Phyto Paris* range I jumped at the chance! Phyto is a botanical hair care line that was born in Paris and fairly recently launched in the US.

I have been using several products from the Volume range, as well as the Phytokératine Extreme and PhytopolléinePhytopolléine is a scalp treatment made of a blend of botanical oils to soothe and balance the scalp. I've had a fairly dry scalp this winter (gross), which has led to an overproduction of oil meaning I need to wash my hair wayyy more often. And no one has time for that. I've only used this a handful of times but so far I'm really liking it. It feels quite clarifying and cleans without leaving your hair feeling stripped, it hasn't totally relieved my dry scalp but I feel like it's on the fast track. The Phytovolume shampoo is designed for finer hair and brings body and bounce. My hair borders on fine, but I have a lot of it, so I often find that things that are supposed to be volumizing end up weighing it down. This not only smells delish but also leaves my hair feeling really bouncy. It's super gentle and leaving my hair feeling healthy and shiny, especially when paired with the Phytobaume. This is one of the only conditioners I feel okay loading up on because I know it won't weigh my hair down. My only complaint about this combo is the packaging of the shampoo. It is gorgeous, but has no stopper so it kind of just spills out of the metal bottle and I feel like I'm being a bit wasteful!
After washing my hair, I use the Phytokératine Extreme which is basically a serum for your hair. I tend to do this every other wash as it is quite rich, but leaves your hair super soft and smooth. Obviously I've just cut my hair off but I think I'm noticing a change in the strength of my hair. I don't hair any split ends so far and it's almost frizz-free (which is incredible in this humidity). This is also a thermal protectant so is awesome for those of you that heat style often! The final product, and my absolute favourite, is the Phytovolume Actif. If you're familiar with the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray, this is along those lines. It's a volumizing spray that leaves hair looking full, but is texturizing instead of sticky.

Have you guys tried anything from the Phyto range? Hopefully this review was somewhat helpful, I'm obviously not very well versed in hair care! I'll probably be repurchasing the shampoo and conditioner as they're fairly inexpensive, but I'm not sure I can get myself to spend money on the other styling products! We shall see.

The Cream Blush Edit

I love cream blushes, especially the stick variety if you couldn't tell. I think they get this bad rep that they're difficult to use or that they don't last but in recent years formulas have changed. Now they're effortless flushes of colour that bring life back to your face. In short, I'm obsessed.

The MAC Cremeblend Blush in Lady Blush was one of my first introductions to cream blush (and blushes in general) and is a classic. This one is more like traditional cream blushes with a thicker, almost gooey consistency and doesn't set down once applied to the cheeks. It's gorgeous if you like a dewy skin, and the warm neutral pink colour is great for every day. The Bobbi Brown Sheer Colour Cheek Tints are really hard to find, but if you happen across them please pick them up. And buy me some. Specifically the colour Cool Lilac which is the most beautiful pale, cool, lilacy-pink there ever was. The formula of these is kind of unusual because they're like a tinted lip balm, meaning they go on transparent and blend out into a beautifully-sheer flush. I looooooove them.

I've sung the praises of the Bite Beauty Multisticks multiple (lol) times on the blog, but they're just so good! These little miracles are multi-use eye, lip, and cheek products and are made with natural and food-grade ingredients! They have this strange demi-matte satin formula which means they do not budge. They're alright on the lips and eyes, but not my fave. On the cheeks though, my goodness. The colour is super concentrated if you apply straight from the bullet, but blended with your fingers they look so beautiful. I specifically love the shades Gelato, Cocoa, and Brioche but there's a huge range!

Not gonna lie, when my manager gave me a Clinique Chubby Stick I was like boooooring. My idiot self didn't know what she was missing. Who knew these were this good?! The formula is super creamy, but goes on like velvet meaning they last alll day. I've got lots and lots of these on my wishlist next. This shade is Plumped Up Peony which is perfect for every day. On the slightly more high end side are the Charlotte Tilbury Beach Sticks, the Chubby Stick's sheerer slightly tackier (as in texture hehe, look at that packaging girl) older sister. These aren't particularly loved in the beauty community, but I think they're really underrated. I've only tried Moon Beach but it gives such a glow to the skin, and I imagine it'll look extra amazing in the summer time. They are expensive, but I got mine in one of the look sets so it was an amazing deal!

I'm sure you all know how much I adore the Glossier Cloud Paints, and I have a post here so I won't go on about them for too long. If you're afraid of cream blush, you must try these. They're the most user friendly blush on the face of the planet. The gel-cream formula glides easily over the skin and blends like a dream. Don't forget to shop through my link glossier.com/reps/amelia for 20% off your first order! And you can use the code 2BLUSH to get two for $30 ;)

What I Wore: Week 01

In an effort to use up the ridiculous amount of products I own, I've decided to do semi-weekly product roundups. Then, so that I won't bore you all to tears I will be required to use different products! Genius, eh? As long as it lasts, anyway. On to this week's products! Not gonna lie, I actually struggled to use a bunch of products for an entire week. Mostly because I generally change up the foundation I wear on a daily basis, but I have prevailed! Except for on the eyeshadow-section. There I epically failed.

Anyway, I decided I needed to try to use my Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick more often as it's definitely getting close to the end of its life and I have tons and tons left. I do like this, but I have the older formulation which is much thicker and much less creamy. I've sort of been using this as a giant concealer and drawing it over the areas that need it then just blending with my fingers. For a little extra coverage I'm also using the Bobbi Creamy Concealer in Ivory. I literally have 5 of these in different colours which is totally unnecessary so I'll be trying to use these up (read: I'll probably give them to my friends)! Honestly I just have a ton of base products, so I thought that this baby Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light would be a good place to start in the powder category. Because it isn't a flat matte it pairs well with the foundation stick. And because it's a baby it will be a bit easier to use up (although I may repurchase this oops).

I know I should be using some of my exorbitant MAC Blush collection, but I cannot put the Glossier Cloud Paints away. Dusk specifically has become my every day shade, it's such a nice natural colour that really warms up my complexion. I attempted to use the Tartelette palette on my eyes but I think I may have put a transition shade through my crease once or twice. Oops. I did forget about the gorgeous Bobbi Brown Shadow Stick in Truffle. This colour is such a beautiful champagne and doubles up as eyeshadow and highlight, win! I threw a bunch of mascaras away recently so I don't really have too many to rotate, but this week I stuck to the Clinique High Impact Mascara. Top lashes only to look more awake (hi Rachel and Jewlie). This is one of my classic mascara faves as it's both volumizing and lengthening without being clumpy.

For those of you who have a ridiculous amount of makeup, how do you make sure you actually use your makeup?

All my love x

The Best of Bobbi Brown

I'm obsessed with a lot of brands, but I think if I had to pick one it would be Bobbi Brown. It's consistently an incredible line focused on making you feel good about yourself. It also helps that I've never disliked something from them (to date). I do love many many many more products than are featured here, but out of the things I currently own these are my favourites.

Bobbi does bases well. If you don't know this, you should. Her foundations are all incredible, as are her products for under makeup. I love a lot of the skincare products, but my holy grail is the Vitamin Enriched Face Base and I am so so glad to have this back in my life. We got the travel sized version in at work so you better believe I'm stocking up while it's cheap. This is an oil-free moisturizer and primer in one and leaves your skin feeling incredible (and smells incredible). It's quite rich, but blends into the skin easily and feels light. I honestly didn't think this would help my makeup last but by some magic it does. My foundation goes on smoothly and doesn't break up at the end of my long day (as it usually does). I have normal skin, but my t-zone gets quite oily so I think it's great for all skin types. Speaking of foundation, by go-to from Bobbi is the Skin Foundation as I'm sure you all know. It's the perfect everyday base, it provides a natural coverage that evens tone but lets your skin shine through. The sort-of-dewy-satiny finish lasts really well throughout day without looking flat.

Bobbi is well known for their Creamy Concealers and Correctors, and for good reason. They are incredibly creamy (duh) but also incredibly full coverage, making them great for concealing dry blemishes (ew). I get a super long wear-time on these alone, but I do tend to set with powder just to make sure it doesn't budge. The Bronzing Powders are fairly underrated as far as reviews from bloggers go, they don't seem to be talked about at all! I generally use either Golden Light or Stonestreet, but they have a great range of colours. It's a super fine, blendable powder that is matte but somehow manages to look dimensional on the face. The formula of the Blushes is similar in that they're super blendable on the cheeks, and the colour range is immense, you're pretty much guaranteed to find a shade you like. If you're more into cream blushes, you need to try and find the Sheer Colour Cheek Tint. The formula is beautiful, but quite similar to the Pot Rouges if you don't have a Cosmetics Company Store near you.

I'm sure you all know how much I love my Long Wear Cream Shadow Sticks. My goal is basically to own every shade because the formula is amazing. They're super smooth and blendable, with tons of colour payoff, but once they set they will not budge. A smidge. I love them so much that I will probably be wearing these at my wedding (if I can ever convince someone to marry me lollll). My favourite shades are Dusty Mauve and Sunlight Gold, but I definitely have a few more on my list. Also in this range are the Long Wear Gel Eyeliners, which are sort of a cult product. I personally prefer the pencils for ease of use, but these things do not budge. If you're someone who has trouble with liners staying in their waterline, look no further. I'm also huge into Bobbi's Gentle Eyelash Curlers. I was never bothered with curling my lashes before these, but now it's an everyday step in my routine. If you're interested in investing in a more high-end curler that won't break the bank, I highly recommend these.

Lastly, to round out an already incredible lineup, Bobbi's lipsticks. There are about 6 million different formulas in the line, and I love them all. My favourites however are the Creamy Matte Lip Colours and the Luxe Lip Colours. The mattes are really long wearing without the uncomfortable dryness of other matte lipsticks. My all time favourite shade from this line is Tawny Pink, which is the perfect pinky-nude. The Luxe Lip Colours are a really interesting formula. They're creamy and have a soft shine to them, but they're also somehow quite long wearing and the brighter colours stain the lips. They're quite hydrating and the colour is intense, and come in 30 (yes, thirty) shades. I love Neutral Rose and Parisian Red. I'm also super super interested in trying their new Art Stick Liquid Lips, but haven't gotten my hands on any quite yet!

Do you guys love Bobbi Brown? Let me know your favourites down below! (Also, drinking game: drink every time I say incredible because lord I need a thesauras)

Pastel Polishes

I am definitely a neutral nails kind of person. So, if I want a pop of colour you better believe it'll be a pastel. With Spring coming up, the season of pastels, I thought I would round up my favourite pale polishes for you! These are pretty much baby pinks and blues as those are the colours I wear the most. But if you know of any good pale purples that aren't greigy (I have plenty) and have a good formula, let me know!

If you couldn't tell, my favourite nail polish formula is Essie. And I own three alarmingly similar blues. I also have three others in my drawer. They're different, I swear. Find Me An Oasis is a cool icy blue. This is one of my favourite polishes ever. The formula is quite thin and requires three coats, but I personally prefer thin polishes as I can get a really clean cuticle line. This kind of shade is very brightening, and I think looks really elegant on the nails. Borrowed and Blue is a warmer sky blue, but is quite similar to Find Me An Oasis. This formula is a little bit thicker and usually requires only two coats. Saltwater Happy is a beautiful powdery blue that is also super elegant. I always get tons of compliments on this colour and I really love it. I'm very sad to say that Formula X polishes have been discontinued, as I really really loved them. This shade is Reckless, and is fairly similar to Essie's Bikini So Teeny. Its a lovely cornflower blue and I'll be devastated when this one runs out!

LVX recently sent me their S/S17 collection and I was psyched to see two pastels. Seychelle* is a stunning pale turquoise blue. You can see that this one has a bit more green in it versus the cooler blues, but once on the nails it looks like a pale blue. Onto the pinks! Coquillage* is the perfect pastel pink. I was honestly blown away by the formula of both of these. They applied incredibly easily in just two coats, dried quickly, and lasted really really well. LVX polishes are also vegan and 7 Toxin Free! Essie's Fiji is a cult classic pale pink, but honestly the formula is a bitch and I much prefer the LVX shade, just thought I would mention as it is a cheaper alternative! I also have to mention Glossier's #glossierpink which was limited edition. But, while I do love this polish, it really isn't Glossier pink on me. It's sort of a brighter, medium pink. Segway into telling you that my perfect Glossier pink is the Barry M Pink Lemonade Gel Hi Shine. I like this one the most because it really is almost a neutral, and the formula of these are a dream. There are some other really beautiful pastels in this range, like Huckleberry and Rosehip, but I sadly had to throw them away as they were tooooo old!

Do you guys love pastel polishes? What are your favourites?

Glossier Cloud Paints

I think Glossier have officially launched the product that is the best thing since sliced bread. Cloud Paints are a seamless gel-cream blush and they are literal perfection. Inspired by New York sunsets, these beauts are bringing back the blush game in full force. I think a lot of people (including me until quite recently) are afraid of blush, but it really gives you such a fresh, healthy look.

These are basically the most user-friendly blush on the planet, so have no fear. Just squeeze a wee bit onto your fingers and pat onto your cheeks. They blend so effortlessly, and amazingly stick around all day. I'm sure most of you guys have the same issue, but my foundation seems to eat blush up, but these are literal magic and don't budge! They contain collagen, which has a high water retention ability, helping keep your cheeks hydrated and plump. There are four colours in the range (I obvs bought them all), I wasn't sure if I'd like them all but I'm totally in love.

Haze is a beautiful deep berry. This one I was a bit frightened of because I'm a pale princess, but it is really really lovely. I think if you have a deep skin tone, this shade will look absolutely incredible on you. In the summer if I actually tan this year, I'm feeling like this will become a firm favourite. At the moment I use a teeny tiny amount, or mix it with another shade!

Puff is a bright, cool toned pink. This colour is super brightening, but really flattering because of it's cool tones. And because of the formula, even though it's pale it will never ever look ashy. I thought this one would be my favourite, but as it's a little brighter than I expected I like it more when mixed with Dusk.

Beam is a warm coral peach. I thought this one might be too orange for me, but again I was pleasantly surprised. This one really warms up the skin and brings a glow. This one is also going to be extra fab in the summer, and if you have more olivey skin you need it. Do it. This one mixed with Puff is also flipping gorg.

Dusk is a warm toned brownish nude. This one is 100% my favourite out of the bunch as it's so versatile. It gives definition and warmth to the skin and looks incredibly natural. This is another one that just sort of wakes you up, I don't know how I've ever looked alive before (I always looks halfway dead tbh). The other reason this one is awesome is that it mixes beautifully with all of the other shades.

I think Dusk and Beam are probably my top two, but I'm so happy that I decided to pick them all up. As always, if you're a first time Glossier shopper you can go to glossier.com/reps/amelia (or just click the tiny "G" in my menu bar) for 20% off you first purchase. Even if you're not a first time shopper, you can still support me by using the link as I do make a small commission off of these orders, I would really appreciate it! Any money made through my blog go right back into making it a better space for you guys. Also, if you end up buying two (or more) Cloud Paints, use code 2BLUSH, this will get you two for $30! This code is a limited time offer so definitely jump on it!

If you're interested in seeing these beauts in action, I filmed a little video for you here. I hope you guys like it!

Which shades are you interested in the most? Let me know!

Charlotte Tilbury First Impressions

I've been eyeing Charlotte Tilbury products for a while, and finally decided to bite the bullet. I got the  Quick 'N' Easy Natural Glowing Look in order to try out several different products. This is a really really good deal, you get three full-sized products and two minis for only $75! Considering the Blush and Lipstick would cost you $80 you're saving a lot of money! The idea of this set is to give you a fresh-faced look in five minutes.

The Wonderglow Face Primer is a soft focusing primer which gives a skin a gorgeous dewy glow. I really love the texture of this, it blends into the skin incredibly easily and makes your skin look super bright. If you have dull or dry skin you will definitely love this! The micro-pearl particles are incredibly fine, so you look dewy but not sparkly. It also has a neutral-beigey undertone, so it's great for all skin tones. You can use this under, over, or mixed into foundation. I haven't tried it as anything other than I primer, but if you'd like me to let me know! I received a sample of the Magic Cream and I'm sad to say that I am absolutely in love. Sad because it costs 100 blimmin dollars. I don't think that I could bring myself to spend that much on a face cream, but if you have the budget it is truly beautiful. Not only does it hydrate and plump the skin, but also contains peptides to fight free-radicals and boost collagen production. Hopefully one day I'll be able to try this again (cries in the corner).

The star of the show is the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria. I didn't believe Cindy when she told me that these lipsticks were well worth the price tag. But she was right, they are incredible. They're super comfortable, but stay matte and last allllll day. Very Victoria is a beautiful taupey-nude that is perfect for every day, but can also be amped up with different lip liners. I also love just patting this on for a bit of colour. I'm definitely wanting to get another one of these, and surprisingly Amazing Grace, a rosy coral that's out of my usual lip wardrobe. It was one of the samples I got and I loved it!

I unfortunately wasn't a huge fan of the Legendary Lashes, it went on okay and made my lashes look more voluminous but smudged incredibly quickly. I think this is because it contains Tamanu oil to nourish lashes. But if this causes your mascara to smudge off, there's not much point! I liked the Colour Chamelon in Amber Haze, but wasn't amazed by it. It's a nice cream shadow stick in a very pretty bronzey gold. It looks beautiful when swatched, but on the eyes it's very hard to blend and often the sparkle just blends away. I prefer my Bobbi Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks. Last but not least is the Beach Stick in Moon Beach. These seem to have quite mixed reviews, but I really really love it! Moon Beach is a beautiful shimmery golden peach that looks like a natural flush. I like this because it isn't super duper pigmented, and blends out easily. I don't find that it skips over my foundation or powder, nor does it disrupt the product underneath. Just creates a beautiful natural glow!

I highly recommend ordering directly from the CT Website versus other sites like Nordstrom. On Charlotte's site, every order gets free shipping and free returns (with no min. amount spent, you could literally buy the pencil sharpener and get it shipped for free). This is ground shipping, but I received my order in three days (which is GREAT). You also get two free samples with every order which is awesome to try things out. And, if you order something like a set, they add three more free samples!

Do you guys have any favourite Charlotte Tilbury products? Let me know, I've already got a wishlist going ;)

The Top Drawer Edit

I've recently had a bit of a makeup reorganization (it's up on my Instagram story if you want to see today), and I've ended up filling an acrylic drawer with the things I reach for regularly. This way I don't have to rummage around for things when I need to get ready really quickly. Although I still definitely go into the rest of my collection every day, these products are readily available to do a quick and simple look!

Way up in the corner there is the Tony Moly My Sunny Powdery Finish Sun Milk. I've been trying this out for a week, because I thought it would sit really nicely under makeup. I think for every day this is perfect, but you may want something more heavy duty for the beach/pool. If you'll be taking photos I'd suggest something else as this would probably have flashback. The Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint has become my go-to every day base. I switched to the shade Medium and I think it compliments my skin much better. This is so great for everyday because it blends in effortlessly, you can build it up a bit to customize coverage, and it looks just like skin (but WAY better). For any extra coverage I use the Glossier Stretch Concealer in Light because it also blends in and looks like skin, but is legitimately photoshop for your face (especially those tired lil undereyes. Don't forget you can shop glossier.com/reps/amelia if you're interested in these (first time shoppers get 20% off!).

I'm sure you all know that I'm back into blush lately, and these stick formulas have been my favourites (although I think the arrival of the Cloud Paints will take over soon). My beloved Bite Multisitcks may be my favourite discovery of the year (so far). Gelato is easily my favourite, a cool toned pink, but Cocoa and Brioche are also gorg. I bronze/contour with Cocoa, and Brioche is great on the lips and on the cheeks! Highlighters have been mostly in the cream family as well, specifically the Glossier Haloscope in Quartz and the TreStiQue Mini Highlighting Stick in Maldives Luminescent. Both are beautiful champagne colours that are fairly natural and not too icy. I obviously have a million brow products here but the Glossier Boy Brows are easily my favourites (in both Brown and Clear). I use the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown on an everyday basis, but also sometimes use the Dip Brow. I've also got the Bobbi Natural Brow Shaper in case I'm feeling like extra textured brows.

I've talked about the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks before, they're super easy and quick but last forever. This shade specifically is Dusty Mauve which is a beautiful lavender-taupey-mauve. The Bobbi Brown Eyelash Curlers are the best I've ever used. I have quite long lashes, but they never seem to stay curled so I love this! I'm trying out the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes at the moment, but my favourite Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara is always on hand for perfect volume! I've got a few more every day things sitting on my vanity, which you can see on my Instagram!

How do you guys store your makeup? Do you have an every day product section?

Top Picks : February 2017

I think my favourites this month are fairly predictable (as usual), but I love doing these roundup posts so I thought I'd talk about them again anyway (hehe). I've not included any skincare products here because I have just done a major Skincare Edit if you want to read more!

This month has definitely been the month of the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint (20% off here). Thanks to aforementioned skincare goodies, I haven't felt the need for much or any coverage. But, this beauty evens out your skin and somehow blurs everything into perfection whilst looking just like skin. I switched to the shade Medium, and while I still mix a bit of Light in I think it makes me look a bit more alive. Pale princess over here. I'm sort of angry that I love the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation so much because it costs more than a month of gas (ouch), but it is incredible. After Cindy and the rest of you sung its praises I had to pick it up and it does not disappoint. It has a pretty skin-like finish, and I would say its satin with a slight glow (absolutely no worries for oily-skinned girls it isn't dewy). I like that you can build it up, but I still haven't figured out how Desi gets it so full coverage, any tips? These two are beautiful mixed together and wear surprisingly well! For reference, I wear the shade 3.

It's also been the month of blush this month, and I have fallen head over heels in love with the Bite Beauty Multisticks. I first picked up Cocoa and Brioche after Claire included them in a video and still adore those, but Gelato is my ultimate favourite. It's a super cool toned pink that I can actually imagine looking incredible on all skin tones. It just looks so fresh and natural, and the formula means that they wear all day (which is insane because my face usually eats blush). For glow this month, I've been drawing the TreStiQue Highlighting Stick in Maldives Luminescent all over my face. This is the perfect champagne in a super easy, travel friendly formula and looks radiant on the skin. Its small size means I can use it on my Cupid's bow and inner corners as well with no fuss!

I've been fairly lazy when it comes to eyeshadow this month, but if I'm feeling like doing a little something extra I always adore the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks. This shade, Dusty Mauve, is a beautiful almost cool-toned taupey rose. Impossible to describe, but so so beautiful. Cindy also forced me to place a Charlotte Tilbury order (this one is the worst enabler, I swear), and I'm so happy her beautiful pictures led me to do it because WOW. My favourite thing that I've gotten so far is the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria. The absolute every day neutral-browny-pink lip in the most comfortable matte formula you will ever wear. I already have several other shades in mind, but I got a sample of Amazing Grace and it was beautiful. Also, ordering from the actual CT website is incredible, you get free super fast shipping, it's wrapped beautifully, and you get tons of free samples (win)! With some of my insane Sephora purchases this month (officially on a no-buy until the end of March), I got a few samples of the Maison Margiela REPLICA Fragrances and I've been loving them! Specifically At the Barber's and Tea Escape, but if you have a favourite let me know!

That's it for this month, but let me know what products you've been loving in the comments! I'm compiling a very long wishlist for my vacation at the end of my spending ban!
