Hi, I'm Amelia! I'm a full time student and beauty blogger living and working in the Southeast United States. I'm originally from England and hoping to move back to the UK soon. I'm an absolute beauty junkie (not helped by the fact that I work at a Cosmetics Company Store) and Harry Potter fanatic. If you want to get to know me better, you can read this post.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation & CoverGirl truBLEND Fixstick

Laura Mercier describes the Silk Creme Foundation as, "An innovative full coverage foundation that makes the skin look luminous and rich. By combining a special collection of silk proteins, tea extracts and treated mica, Laura has created a luxurious formula that leaves skin hydrated and protected with a radiant, timeless glow." In my opinion, this is a perfect description of the product. I absolutely adore it, and after wearing it for a week, I have no complaints. The consistency is sort of unique, it's rather thick, but also light, almost like a mousse of gel, but liquidy. I've been using my Angled-Top Kabuki to apply it as always, dotting it on my face before blending. It doesn't dry ultra fast, which allows you to really work it into your skin. I would say the coverage is light-medium with a light hand, which I like, but could be medium to full if built up. The finish is beautiful, not super glowy or matte, but leaves you looking radiant. Because it's so silky I would definitely say it needs setting with a powder. I've been alternating between e.l.f High Definition powder and the MAC Studio Fix Powder. I find that it stays better using the HD, considering that the Studio Fix is a super light powder. I do have normal-dry skin, and my t-zone is slightly oily but nothing too crazy. I think that if you have really oily skin, it would probably end up getting somewhat shiny, but it does seem to stay in place really well.

I was matched in my Sephora to Rose Ivory, which I would have never picked for myself. I have pretty red skin, so I'm always trying to counteract that. However, this matches absolutely perfectly and eliminates the redness. I would probably recommend to get yourself matched because of this, it's sometimes tricky to find the right shade and not all stores allow returns. If you're not totally sure, ask for a sample! A $43 dollar foundation is not something I want to just wing! Anyway, as of now, they have ten shades, all of which look pretty light to me, so this may not be a good match for darker skin tones. Overall, I really like this foundation. With the high price-tag I doubt I would repurchase because there are think I like for much cheaper, but I'm really glad I have it for now.

Now, I decided to buy this because Nicole Guerierro on youtube mentioned it. I've been trying to find a concealer that is more high-coverage while still being light and non-creasing. So, I figured I'd try these crayon things out. I got the shade fair, and it matches my skin perfectly. It isn't really brightening because of that, but it covers my dark circles so that's fine with me. They have 8 shades of this, so not much inbetween, but they do have darker shades. I was actually surprised that they only have two light shades! The consistency of the concealer is really creamy and blends really well. It is slightly dry, so I would recommend moisturizing if you have dry under-eyes. Another thing that I've noticed is that it sheers out as you blend, so if your darkness is crazy dark, I would probably stay away from this. But, for me this works really well as an everyday concealer. It works well for both blemishes and under the eyes, and overall I'm in LOVE with both of these products!

What do you think? Have you guys tried either of these products?

the Dentist

I have never really understood why people hate going to the dentist. Maybe all the sharp instruments are slightly scary, but I love getting my teeth cleaned, it feels so good when you're done! One thing I always find funny is that if they cut you with one of their tools and you start to bleed, they try to blame it on your oral hygiene. They always say "you're bleeding because you don't floss enough." I find that hilarious, also the fact that they try to have a conversation with you while their hands are taking up your entire mouth....

I don't know, am I weird for liking the dentist? Maybe it's because I've never had any problems with my teeth so I've never had any real procedure (knock on wood). What do you guys think? Are you afraid of the dentist?

City of Dreams

I don't think I've ever been so excited in my entire life. Maybe that's an overstatement, but in this moment in time, it feels completely true. For the past six or seven years I've been asking my parents to take me to New York City for a birthday weekend. Every year they've said no. This year however, my younger sister (she's 18 as well now, only 11 months between us) asked if she could go, and they said yes.

I. Was. Pissed.

How dare they allow her to go after I'd been asking for so long. For obvious reason, I sulked around the house for about a week, angry at the world. My little sister had just taken my dream away from me. Until, about a week ago my mom asked me where in New York I wanted to visit. I just blanched at her. I said, "what are you talking about?" she just smiled and replied, "well you're coming too obviously!" I can't recall ever being so overjoyed.

So, this Friday, I'll be getting on a plane and flying to New York for two days. It's only two days, but heck, I'm so beyond excited. I haven't decided if I'm going to take my camera yet, so I may only have iPhone pictures to show you, but I ensure you there will be a blog post.

I CAN'T WAIT

About Me!

So I'm currently sitting in Panera, 'doing my homework' all by my lonesome. Now I'm very obviously not doing my homework at all, but instead decided to write a blog post. I don't have any products with me obviously and I would probably look slightly weird whipping out my camera and taking pictures of makeup (I've already gotten some funny looks for editing videos), so I'm going to tell you some things about myself that may or may not interest you....
being super artsy ya know

my lovely family

My first name is Amelia (I hope you knew this already) and my middle is Grace. When I was little I used to pretend that my full first name was Amelia-Grace because I liked it so much and wanted to be one of those cool kids with a hyphenated name. It never worked. I'm 18 years old, almost 19 eek. I can't even process the fact that I've been alive for 18 years, let alone the fact that I'm considered an adult, I still feel like I should be about 8. I'm from a teeny little town in Southern England called Dersingham, I lived there until I was actually 8, which is when we moved to the US. I now live in the dirty south, which is not really a place where British people exactly fit in. I'm currently (as of Spring 2014) in my second semester of my Freshman year in college. I still can't believe I'm in college (I obviously don't want to grow up at all). I'm working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts which is kind of like a step up from Bachelor of Arts, my concentration being Graphic Design. My dream is to work for Seventeen Magazine (hey Ann Shoket, hire me?). I'm hoping to transfer to NYU for my Senior year of college.

My favorite color is purple, the kind that's not quite lilac, but almost white. Also I really like the kind that's almost black. I have two dachshunds, Dave and Charlie; the latter of which is our little rescue baby. My favorite food is pasta and I've been a vegetarian for 11 years, wow! I have two younger sisters. One of which is currently 18, we're not twins but "Irish twins", our birthdays are 11 months apart so for a month and three days we are the same age. My other sister is 15, which is kind of unbelievable to me because she still seems like the baby. I'm single and ready to mingle. Not really I think I'm too awkward and far too busy for any sort of relationship at the moment, thank you very much. I'm 5'9" last time I checked, yes I'm that girl in the friend group that's always awkwardly tall in the friend group, and taller than half the boys. It's rather annoying, but I try to work it. My favorite blogs are Cupcakes and Cashmere and Paperfashion, I'm obsessed with those.

All right I think I've sufficiently bored you, so that's it for now
