Hi, I'm Amelia! I'm a full time student and beauty blogger living and working in the Southeast United States. I'm originally from England and hoping to move back to the UK soon. I'm an absolute beauty junkie (not helped by the fact that I work at a Cosmetics Company Store) and Harry Potter fanatic. If you want to get to know me better, you can read this post.

The Concealer Edit

Recently I've been keeping my base very light and instead using concealers to pinpoint the areas that I don't want the world to see. So today I'm going to show you my favourite three that get the job done.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW20 is the best blemish concealer ever. I tend to use this to 'pinpoint' concealer with a tiny brush and then blend out with a fluffy brush. It's super pigmented and stays alllll day. If you use light layers you can cover ANYTHING.

NYX HD Concealer in Porcelain is once that I used to use all the time but I stopped when I began using other concealers under my eyes. I went back to this a couple of weeks ago and forgot how amazing it is, especially with the beauty blender. It can be built up to get that crazy-under eye highlight or just used to conceal normally. Definitely make sure to set it quickly though because if you use to much it will settle.

NYX Wonder Pencil in Light I don't think I've mentioned this bad boy on the blog, but it is one of my absolute favourite products. I use it to clean up under my brows for that really sharp look, to define my cupid's bow, and even to highlight my nose. Some people use it to conceal blemishes as well. It's really a wonderful little product and one that I recommend to everyone (it does come in three shades).

My Weird Mascara Habit

I don't know if it's just me and I'm crazy, or if other people do this too. When I first get a mascara I often hate it. I'm really really not a fan of wet masaras, I prefer them quite dry so that I can build up volume. So, I'll usually buy a mascara and then leave the cap a little loose for a week or two before I use it. I'm sure that gets all kinds of bacteria in the tube but I've never had a problem so I'll continue this weird habit.

Bascially for my mascara routine I'll brush through my lashes with a reaaaally old Benefit BADGal Lash (the sample size, I prefer it to the full size) that has no product left in it, I just adore the brush. Then I'll layer (generally) two of the following Clinique High Impact Mascara, L'Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Black Angel, Rimmel Lash Potion, or Maybelline Lash Sensational. The Lash Sensational is still pretty wet so I'll only use that on days where I have time to really work through my lashes. If they start looking a bit clumpy I'll use the BADGal brush again.

So that's my weird mascara habit, do you have any odd beauty habits?

The Every Day Lip Edit

I've noticed a trend in my makeup recently, I pretty much wear a pinky-nude lip everyday. It's either that or a dark red and I'm totally fine with it. Actually I probably have far too many but here are the ones I've been wearing lately.

Tanya Burr Chic Lipgloss I'm not a lipgloss person, but I thoroughly enjoy this formula. It's opaque but not sticky and is a gorgeous beigey pink (you're gonna hear that a lot).

Colourpop Skimpy Lippie Stix is a super pale nude with a glossy finish, I love wearing this with really dark smoky eyes.

MAC Mellow Mood was unfortunately a LE product but it is fairly similar to Blankety. It's a gorgeous pinky-brown nude in a lustre finish so it looks very natural on the lips.

Colourpop Addict Lippie Stix is very very similar to Skimpy. It's a cream formula so I thought it wouldn't be as glossy but honestly the only difference is that Skimpy is a bit warmer.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain in Honey has been one of my favourites for a very long time. It's the perfect my lips but better shade and the formula is beautifully moisturizing.

Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick in Agatha is a super super pale matte nude. It's pretty overwhelming even on a vampire like me so I tend to just pat it on.

NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee is another perfect gloss, if you can't get your hands on the Tanya Burr glosses these are a great substitute.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Lumiere is the perfect Kylie Jenner (ew) lip. I get an unreal amount of compliments when I wear this. I love it with winged liner and glowy skin.

CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Darling which is unfortunately discontinued which makes me want to cry because it is such a beautiful pink. It's kind of one of those colours that every brand carries though.

What sort of colours do you like to wear on the daily?

More Colourpop.... oops

So I made another ColourPop order....oops. I can't help it they're SO beautiful! And to be fair they're not all mine. In the bottom picture (left to right) are Feminist, Bossy, Addict, Pepper, LBB, Leather, and Bichette. I don't have swatches yet because I snapped these pictures as I was about to leave for work but I'll have them up tomorrow! (Except for Leather, Pepper, and Feminist because those are my friend Elle's!)

Feminist is a matte black-purple, super dark, super edgy (this one is Elle's and I can't WAIT to see how it looks on her). Bossy is called a classic blue red and is matte. I was a little bummed when I got this because I was expecting it to be a bit deeper, but I tried it on and it is NEON and beautiful. Love it, but not what I expected. Addict is a creme formula which honestly is pretty much the same as the glossy. I got this because I thought it would be less glossy than Skimpy, but it's the same just less pink-toned. ColourPop describes it as super-light nude. Still super pretty and I will definitely get a lot of use. Pepper is a pastel lilac-pink in a matter formula. This one is also Elle's and I think it's gonna look killer on her tan skin. LBB is a rich plum wine, it's pretty much the same as Wet 'N Wild's Sugar Plum Fairy but I much prefer ColourPop's formula. Leather is a deep blackened violet and is also matte. This is Elle's as well, we were worried it would be similar to Feminist but it's much much brighter, beautiful! And last but not least is Bichette which I will pretend is called Bitchette because that's more fun. It's a matte deep red and is definitely my favourite so far.
Guys I'm developing an addiction, I already have another wishlist. What colours are your favourites?

Lip Liner Love

I have always been adamantly against lipliner. On me, they're always too drying and end up making my lipstick look to much. Until I discovered the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob. Amelia Liana was talking about this a while back as a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Liner. It was buy one get one when I bought this so I also picked up Natural. These shades are beautiful both on their own and under other lip products. I find it's key to have properly moisturized lips, otherwise it'll obviously be dry looking. I love wearing these by themselves with lip balm immediately under because it makes my lips look fuller without looking like I'm wearing anything.

The other day in my Target Haul I said I picked up another in Red Diva. This is PERFECT to go under my beloved NARS Cruella lipstick. Now that it's summer, the temperature is reaching into the upper 90s down here in the south, ew. That means sweaty foundation and bleeding lipstick my friends, lovely. But this beaut lets me rock the bold red lip all day with no worries. Honestly I eat and drink wearing this combo and it stays put. Magic.

What do you guys think of lipliner?

A Little Target Haul

I went to Target the other day to pick up some nail polish remover and came out with a few more things. I did pick up a bunch of my elf essentials though so I thought I would show you. The tweezers from the elf essentials line literally cost a dollar and they are the best, sharpest tweezers EVER. I do have a pair already but I use them for eyelashes as well so they can get gunky easily. I figured two is better than one. You guys already know I looooove the elf Clear Mascara to set my brows with. It's $2 and it works like a charm.

I grabbed another Essential EyeshadowBrush because you can never have too many, these are great for packing colour on the lid. I also picked up the Smudge Pot Cream Eyeshadow in Crusin' Chic because Sarah recommended it and she never leads me wrong. I'm really excited for this because it's slightly warmer than Bad to the Bronze but still a flattering taupey shade. It's definitely more wet and creamy than the Colour Tattoos, similar in texture to the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows, so hopefully it won't crease! It's not elf, but I also picked up the Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in Red Diva. I absolutely adore these liners and I don't have a bright red, so I grabbed this to prolong colours like NARS Cruella and Colour Pop Bossy. Very excited!

Have you picked up anything new lately? Let me know!

Simple

I love Simple's Skincare line and one of my favourites are the Cleansing Facial Wipes. I often get lazy removing my makeup and find that I prefer to wipe it all away and then wash my face with my Clarisonic rather than use a liquid remover. The wipes contain no harsh chemicals or artificial perfumes or dyes and they leave no residue on my skin. I often find that's a major issue with face wipes, they'll leave my skin feeling greasy and gross, but these don't! I will say that they're pretty amazing at removing most makeup, although waterproof mascara requires a little work. Sometimes I'll use the Clinique remover on a cotton pad for that.

Overall, I absolutely love these wipes and they're wonderful for travel as well!

The Cream Eyeshadow Edit

A few years ago everyone started going crazy for cream eyeshadows. I was never that into them. I had several paint pots but I mostly just used my UDPP and powder shadows. The past few weeks however have been full of long shifts that start early in the morning. I still want to look put together but I don't want to put a lot of effort in, so I started reaching for cream shadows.

My MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot is my everyday eyeshadow primer, in fact I use it even when I don't wear eyeshadow. I just included this to point out that the formula of these is beautiful, especially the shades that are creamy versus shimmer. Painterly is the most popular for an everyday base, but I prefer Soft Ochre because of its yellow tone. I recently picked up the Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in Bronze Have More Fun. It's a beautiful "antique bronze" shade that I was really excited to try. Unfortunately I wasn't very impressed with the formula. It's quite thin and applies surprisingly sheerly. You can build it up and the colour is gorgeous but you definitely feel it on your lid. It also wears quite patchily, so I only ever use this with a shadow on top.

The Maybelline Colour Tattoos really are the best of the best. They're inexpensive and the shade Bad to the Bronze is absolutely beautiful. It's lighter than Bronze Have More Fun and much more metallic. A while ago I saw KathleenLights do a tutorial where she just used this all over the lid so I pulled it back out. The formula is pretty hard so you have to pack the colour on with a synthetic brush, but it really doesn't budge. I've worn this from 9am-10pm before and it still looked the same!
