Hi, I'm Amelia! I'm a full time student and beauty blogger living and working in the Southeast United States. I'm originally from England and hoping to move back to the UK soon. I'm an absolute beauty junkie (not helped by the fact that I work at a Cosmetics Company Store) and Harry Potter fanatic. If you want to get to know me better, you can read this post.

Tom Ford Nail Lacquer

In case you're new to the blog, I currently work at a Cosmetics Company Outlet. We recently got two of the Tom Ford Nail Lacquers in (swoon) so of course I snatched them up. The shades we got are Black Sugar and Show Me The Pink. The polishes normally retail for $35, but at the outlets are $22.50 so make sure to check if you have one locally.

Black Sugar is a purply-taupe with red shimmer. This is a really really unique colour, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Now, the shimmer doesn't REALLY show up on the nails unless in direct light but the colour is still beautiful. Show Me The Pink is a warm pale pink with silver shimmer. This one would probably be easier to find a dupe of, essie makes some similar colours. The packaging is obviously beautiful, but I was surprised to find that the square cap is actually attatched to the brush. I usually find with square bottles that there is an easier to use handle underneath. The brush itsself is a typical polish brush, similar in shape to OPI but less thick. These polishes are interesting in formula. I thought that they would be creamy and thicker, but they're actually quite sheer. Black Sugar took three thin coats to achieve opacity and Show Me The Pink took four. Black Sugar being a darker colour was definitely easier to work with. I wore Black Sugar for over a week with no chipping and just minimal tip wear. I did use OPI Chip Skip and the Rapid Dry Top Coat. Unfortunately, Show Me The Pink did not look so great on me. If you're a pale princess, beware, it shows up quite orange. If you have a deeper, warmer skin tone I'm sure it would look beautiful on you.
Overall, while expensive, these are beautiful polishes. The formula is nice, but not overly special. I wouldn't say they're a MUST HAVE, especially because of the price, but they are a treat.

Have you ever tried Tom Ford's polishes?

2015 Favourites

I know everyone says it, but I really can't believe that it's 2016. I'm ready to get back to school and get into a more normal routine, but today I'm talking about my most loved products of the year!

This year (and most others) was the year of foundation, I've bought an embarrassing amount, but I managed to narrow it down to my two most worn. The MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation is one that I haven't really mentioned on the blog, but I have been loving it. I have the shade NC20, which is starting to get a wee bit dark for pale little old me, but I keep on wearing it. It has nice coverage and a beautiful satin finish, but the best thing is that it lasts ALL DAY. Another foundation favourite was the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation (Thanks Desi) which gives you perfect-perfect super matte skin. The only problem I've had is that the lighter shades are quite pink, so I usually mix this with a yellower foundation, but it looks beautiful on the skin.

The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer has been hugely hyped up this year, and for good reason. It looks beautiful under the eyes and doesn't settle too badly, plus (running theme here) it's super long wearing. I've used up almost the whole tube, oops. Another hyped product I love (also thanks to Desi) is the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, I don't know how but this keeps your concealer crease-free and budge-proof all day. For budge-proof eyeshadow I've been sticking to my old go-to the MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre because it's perfect.

Eyeshadow has been a wee bit on the back burner this year, but I have been loving the Colourpop Super Shock Shadows. They take a bit of getting used to but they're definitely worth it. Also my trusty NARS Kalahari Duo is always there for me when I'm feeling lazy. I fell in love with the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara this month and had to feature it because it is AMAZING, let me tell you. You must try it. As always to keep my brows "on fleek" I have to talk about my beloved Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade because it really is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Brow "game" has been a huge trend this year and this baby always gets me compliments.

Another major trend this year has been highlighting. Nikki got me on the Kat Von D Thunderstruck Metal Crush Shadow train, and it's been something that I use regularly. My top highlighter however is not pictured, simply because Inglot eyeshadows are so damn hard to get out of the palette. Inglot's Pearl 395 is easily the best highlighter I have EVER used, don't knock it until you try it (it's like $7). I've gotten into wearing false lashes, and Eyelure's are definitely my favourites particularly the Texture No. 117.

Colourpop has taken up residence in my lip wardrobe and is refusing to let anything else in. I started off the year loving the Lippie Stix (which I still do), but I think the Ultra Matte Liquid Lips are probably my favourite product of the year period. Specifically I have been wearing Midi and Avenue a lot!

These have been my top products this year, let me know what yours were in the comments!

Grateful

It's been kind of a whirlwind year for me so today I sat down and thought about all of the wonderful and not so wonderful things that have happened. I'm grateful I have an awesome new job doing something that I love, for my amazing family, and for my friends whom are always there for me even though they live far away. It's been a year full of heartache and struggle, but also one full of happiness and success. Going back to school this semester should be interesting, so bare with me while I try to figure out a blogging schedule! I'm ready to see what the new year brings.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips

I've been wanting to get some of the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips since they came out, but I was a little skeptical because there were a lot of rave reviews and some people who didn't like them at all. I finally just bit the bullet last week and ordered some. The very first time I ordered from ColourPop I complained about the slow slow shipping, but this time my package only took about four days to arrive! I ordered Midi, Beeper, and Avenue (As well as a shadow and a new liner!). And oh my goodness I am in love. I have a few of the Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks which I adored, these are a million times better. They feel like velvet to the touch, but weightless on your lips and they last ALL day.

The formula is very thin and watery, meaning they dry down super fast. That's kind of the only negative as you need to quickly get an even layer down. You can build them a little bit, but if you're not careful they can start to pill up, especially if you rub your lips. You also need to have prepped lips to apply them. Obviously your lips have natural lines in them as you can see below, you if your lips are really dry or cracked these don't look too pretty. I would say I had the easiest time with Midi which is interesting because most people had trouble with the lighter shades. I think for my skin tone, it's a really nice everyday colour that I've pretty much been wearing on the daily. I've also gotten a ridiculous amount of compliments while wearing this. ColourPop describes it as a "soft neutral beige." I definitely want to see how light Vice, the lightest in the collection is on me. Beeper is a little darker and a little more brown than Midi, ColourPop describes it as a "warm mid-toned taupe." I thought the warmer tone might be less flattering on me, but I really like it! Last but not least is Avenue. ColourPop calls it a "deep yellow red," but I find that it pulls quite blue on me. Like most dark colours, this one is a little more difficult to get even. It also pills a lot if you put too much on, and it was the only one I found transferred onto my coffee cup. Despite this, I absolutely adore it.

For $6, you really really can't beat these. They feel comfortable on the lips, don't transfer (unless eating something greasy), and stay put for hours. The packaging is beautiful and I'm really excited to try more!
