Hi, I'm Amelia! I'm a full time student and beauty blogger living and working in the Southeast United States. I'm originally from England and hoping to move back to the UK soon. I'm an absolute beauty junkie (not helped by the fact that I work at a Cosmetics Company Store) and Harry Potter fanatic. If you want to get to know me better, you can read this post.

Those Products That You Used to Love....

Okay, so usually I LOVE the Yes To Carrots/Cucumbers/Whatever makeup wipes, but lately I've been disappointed. I've been trying out other brands aka buying cheaper ones, but every now and again I'll go back to one of their wipes. This time, I went for the Yes to Blueberries Age Refresh wipes. First of all, I want to say that these are not marketed as a makeup wipe so I'm not going to comment on their makeup-removal abilities.

They do, however, claim gentle cleansing and moisturization. Which I think isn't really present. In fact, I find these wipes pretty drying on my skin, and it feels tight after I use them. This sucks because I spent $7 on them. Another thing I've noticed is that the wipes get dried out really quickly, so huge bummer.

Honestly, I'd rather buy cheaper makeup-removing ones and then use a separate cleanser. That's what I get for being lazy.

What are your favourite makeup remover wipes?

The LORAC Pocket Pro Palette

So I went to Ulta with my friend the other day so that she could pick up a new foundation and so I could look at the itCosmetics CC Cream. I was not supposed to buy anything. But, as usual, the to-go/mini section drew me in. I spotted this Lorac Pocket Pro Palette for $15 so I obviously just HAD to buy it.

I mean, I didn't actually, but I'm really glad I did. I have been wanting the Lorac Pro Palette for so long, but I can't bring myself to do it because I already have so many similar colours in my Naked palettes. This little guy has three shades, Nude, Pewter, and Espresso, all of which are also in the Pro Palette. They have beautiful pigmentation and are super buttery. I was surprised to find that these pans are three times the size of those in the original palette's pans, meaning you get a lot of bang for your buck. There's also a QR Code on the back that takes you to Lorac's tutorial for the palette, which you can find here.
This little guy is definitely a great deal and I'm glad I picked him up. Although, now I really want to try more Lorac products, eek.

NYX Butter Lipgloss

Crème Brûlée
So I don't know about you guys, but I'm one of those people who hardly ever jumps on a bandwagon immediately, I like to wait it out and ready plenty of reviews before taking the plunge. Paying for college and pretty much everything else I need means I don't have a lot of spending money, so I try and research products a lot before I buy so that I'm not wasting my precious mooooolah!

Anyway, I'm glad that I picked up a few of the NYX butter glosses on a recent Ulta run! Although I don't really wear lip products all that often, I thought that these were too pretty to pass up. I decided to get Crème Brûlée and Red Velvet as I thought those were the shades I would wear the most. The formulation of these are lovely, creamy, light-weight, and comfortable on the lips. They're slightly tacky, but not sticky which I think is perfect because it means they wear longer. I haven't actually worn Red Velvet out yet as I usually just wear nudes in the daytime, but Crème Brûlée wears beautifully through the day.

Red Velvet
Cute packaging!

What do you guys think of these? Are there any colours I need to check out?

NYC Smooth Skin BB Creme

Okay, I struggle with the concept of a BB Cream. They're supposed to be an all-in-one product to replace moisturizer, primer, foundation, sunscreen, etc. I've never tried a legitimate Asian-market BB Cream but from what I've heard, they actually do these things. As far as I've experienced with American BB Creams (specifically drugstore, I haven't ventured into high-end tinted moisturizers as I think it's a waste of my moolah) they have done pretty much none of these things. In my experience, a BB Cream is basically a tinted moisturizer re-named so that it becomes more desirable. Now, I have absolutely no problem with tinted moisturizers, in fact I love them on lazy days, but I do not like the fact that these products are being sold with claims they can't hold up to.

I do realize that most companies come up with these crazy taglines to draw people in, but shouldn't they be accountable to actually hold up those claims? For example, this product is supposed to "protect skin, minimize pores, erase imperfections and minimize fine lines, smooth skin, and brighten for a luminous look." Heck, it says SKIN PERFECTER right on the tube. Which it isn't. It really doesn't do any of those things. What it is is a sheer moisturizer for those days when you don't want to wear foundation but hate the thought of bare skin.

I'm probably sounding really negative, but I do really like this product for what it is, not what it's labeled to be. I paid $3 for it so what do I expect? It definitely balances out my skintone while looking natural. A little bit definitely goes a long way as well, if you're super oily I might stay away from this as it's pretty dewy. I use a brush to apply it because I'm not a fan of using fingers, but as sheer as it is you could definitely get away with it. I wore it all day at work with powder and it looked fine when I got home. It hadn't oxidized and my skin still looked nice and natural. A big bummer is that this only comes in two shades "Light" and "Medium" which are honestly so similar they shouldn't have even bothered. I'm hoping they'll come out with some new shades because this will only suit a select number of skintones.
Overall, I do like the BB Cream, I just wish these brands would rethink their packaging.

The Foundations Have a Home

If you guys have seen my most recent room tour video, you'll know that I like keeping the products that I use the most out in cute little dishes for easy access. Except for my foundations which stood all in a little cluster that was constantly being knocked over. So I began hunting for a little/big dish to keep them in. When I found this adorable little guy today, I couldn't pass him up. $3.99?! Come on... While he may not be the MOST practical dish to keep foundations in, he is undeniably adorable. Shoutout to TJ Maxx for always saving the day

Gorgeous Anthropolgie Polish is Gorgeous

Right, so as I sat down to write this post I've realized that this nail polish has no name. But I am in love so I had to show you. Although honestly this post is going to be quite shit as the pictures don't really do it justice. I'm struggling obviously.

Anywho, it's from Anthropologie and I bought it for $1.95 so I wasn't expecting much. What I got is the most perfect red I've ever experienced. It's done in two coats, dries quickly, and just looks too chic for me to handle. The bottle is beautiful and vintage-y and I'm very happy with my $1.95 impulse buy.

What's your favourite red?
