Hi, I'm Amelia! I'm a full time student and beauty blogger living and working in the Southeast United States. I'm originally from England and hoping to move back to the UK soon. I'm an absolute beauty junkie (not helped by the fact that I work at a Cosmetics Company Store) and Harry Potter fanatic. If you want to get to know me better, you can read this post.

Current Blog Favourites

I should really call this post "Current Blog OBSESSIONS," because really, I love them. Also, most shouldn't really be considered current as I've loved them forever... anyway, let's get into it.

1. The Beauty Look Book
I've actually just discovered this blog a few days ago and have become absolutely obsessed. I've read several years back already. Shhh... Sabrina's blog is absolutely beautiful. Her posts are very well-written, providing just enough information without being overwhelming. She also posts about different subjects, so that the typical beauty reviews don't become monotonous. And let's not even talk about the gorgeous photos on this site, because good lord.

2. Cupcakes and Cashmere
I might have to say that Emily's blog is my favourite ever. I've been reading Cupcakes and Cashmere for several years now and I'm constantly consulting previous posts. With beautifully written posts featuring everything from fashion to interior design to the most delicious food you will ever look at, I can't ever get enough. Emily is like the big sister I never had, and her style is flawless. The photography as well is utterly amazing. I also love that she lets us in on her personal life a little bit, so we feel connected on a personal basis. Also, her book is fabulous.

3. The Day Book Blog
Sydney's is another blog that I've been reading for a long time, and will never stop. She's another big sister to me. I mean, we've journeyed through a pregnancy with her, and seen her beautiful little Everett begin to grow up. And now, we get to experience it again (Congratulations in order). I've never ever read a blog that seemed so personal as this. Sydney writes beautifully (how else can I possibly describe it?) and with such emotion, I've cried over a few. There is the perfect balance of fashion and lifestyle here and this little family is truly a pleasure to "follow."

4. Viviana Does Makeup

I think I've been reading Anna's blog for a little over a year now, and I must say it's amazing how much it's grown. That's one of the fun things about blogging, you get to see people's life journeys. Anna is obviously all about beauty, but she also throws some lifestyle posts in there to jazz it up. As with all of the others, her photography skills make me jealous. Anna also makes YouTube videos. Her vlogs with Mark are my absolute favourites, they are so cute! Her reviews are the greatest as they are very straight to the point while still being fun to read!

5. Buy Now, Blog Later
Laura's is yet another blog I've been reading for God knows how long. I think her's may have been the first I ever started reading. There is something really different about Buy Now, Blog Later. While I adore all of the previous blogs, Laura has this way of writing that makes it seem like you're just having a conversation. More beautiful photos of products I can't afford but can't stop reading about.

I've noticed a trend: beautiful photos, well-written posts, and very minimalistic layouts... hmmm. What are your favourites?

Moisture

I think that I have found one of those miracle products. The kind where you're like, holy crap, is this stuff made of actual magic? I mean it's purple so it very well could be made of fairy dust. Did I mention I like purple?

Anyway, Elizabeth Arden's Good Night's Sleep Restoring Cream may be a mouthful to say, but it is like sweet nectar from the gods on your skin. It smells faintly of lilacs and leaves you looking like you've been blessed by Aphrodite. Okay, not that magic, but it is great. I've never had problem skin, I very rarely get pimples (knock on wood), and I'm not exceptionally oily. But, I hated the texture of my skin. It was like it was dry-feeling even if it was moisturized. Needless to say, I'm frequently hunting for products to quench my skin's thirst and this is it.

Unfortunately, I found it at TJ Maxx for around $11 and it actually costs $42. This makes me sad, but I'll just have to pray TJ Maxx keeps getting them in. Luckily, it doesn't look like I'm anywhere near out considering the fact that I slather this on my face every night. I'm honestly not really sure how you're supposed to review skincare, as it's working on my skin but may be awful on yours. But, if you can find a deal on this stuff, you absolutely must try it. It's not heavy but moisturizes your skin beautifully, trust me in the morning you won't be able to stop touching your face.

Okay, so it moisturizes well but the magic is that it honestly seems to be improving the way my skin looks. After using this for a while, I've noticed that my skin looks very radiant and I hardly ever use foundation because it looks THAT good. I also stopped using it for a week or two and my skin looked incredibly dull. I can't recommend this enough. It also has rave reviews on both the Elizabeth Arden website and Amazon. I'm in love.

While EA is clearly the star here I am also loving my Minerals of the Dead Sea Dermarepair as a day cream. It is perfectly lightweight and keeps my glow going all day. If you're in need of some good moisturizers, definitely check these out. What are your favourites?

Good Hair... No Plans

I need to talk about what might be the most frustrating thing in the world... When your hair looks perfect and you're not doing anything but lounging in pyjamas for the rest of the night. Last night I was editing videos and shoved my hair up in a messy bun. What resulted was the most flawless looking messy bun I have ever managed to create. Literally. I tried again this morning and completely failed. Apparently I should stop using a mirror to do my hair. This is also CONSTANTLY happening to me. I don't think my hair ever looks good when I have somewhere to go. Look at this...
Like, it's a silly picture but how perfect does that bun look? I'm rather upset.

Do you guys deal with this problem frequently?

The Brow Struggle

I think that every girl in the world goes through this problem, and prays that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Although I'm pretty sure others have no idea that they'll think they look awful a few years down the road. I'm talking about brows, people. Those weird little furry caterpillars we have on our face that really serve absolutely no purpose.

I'm very much so partial to a full brow, but you do you (although I can't promise I won't criticize). Now, in middle school, aka the no makeup years, I had nearly non-existent brows. And then *hallelujah chorus kind of* I discovered that you can actually fill in your eyebrows. This ended up in some super-heavy brows, like oh my word dark. I then transitioned into what I would call my perfect brow stage. Unfortunately, they're not being very kind to me at the moment. They need a firm talking-to. However, the Anastasia Dip-Brow in Chocolate is doing them a wold of good and I think I'm getting back to the perfect brow. Now, don't laugh at these pictures.

Ahhhhhhhhh blasphemy!
the sharpie-ish brow
tweezer-happy, but getting there
score, the happy medium kind-of-close

Sparkles and Splotches

Do you guys ever have mistakes that turn out to be good things? I originally drew cute little polka dots on my nails with Sharpie, but once I put my topcoat on, they got all streaky. At first I was super-bummed, but then I realized how freakin' awesome they looked! This is Sally Hansen Hard As Nails X-Treme Wear in Pacific Blue, butterLondon Bit Faker, and a bronze Sharpie. Do you guys like?

What beauty mishaps have you had recently?

Homemade Guacamole

Mmmm... I LOVE guacamole. A lot. Just saying. Anyway, as it was Cinco de Mayo on Monday, and my very best friend is home from college, we decided to try our hand at making it. We did actually cheat a bit because we bought a guacamole seasoning mix... don't judge we're poor. We did, however mash up our own avocados, which is hard work mind you, and slice and dice some tomatoes. The avocados weren't really quite the perfect kind of ripeness, but it was still delicious. And gave me an arm workout. Just look at the beauty....

Did you guys do anything to celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

My Happy Place

image c/o here
I'm currently sitting in possibly the world's comfiest leather armchair in a quiet coffee shop on campus waiting to go to my 3D Design exam, catching up on YouTube videos and drinking an iced coffee. And I feel good. I don't really know why but I've just felt an overwhelming surge of happiness in this moment. Which, to be quite honest, is pretty hard to come by during exam week, so I thought I needed to share. What is your happy place?
